We hope you will enjoy dancing with us! Here are some answers to questions frequently asked by new students:
Q - What should I wear to class?
A - For all the partner dances, we recommend you wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. What most people wear to work or school is perfectly appropriate. For belly dance, work out clothing that allows a great range of motion is typical. Many belly dance students wear camisoles or t-shirts and track or yoga-style pants. A scarf to accent the movement of your hips is also a nice touch!
Q - What type of shoes should I wear?
A - For partner dancing, we recommend a shoe that holds your foot (ie. no flip-flops or strapless heels), with a sole that allows you to spin a little (ie. no rubber soles that grip the floor). Please also ensure that the soles of your shoes are clean. As you progress in your dancing, if you decide this is an activity you would like to pursue, we highly recommend you invest in a good pair of dance shoes. You will see and feel the difference! For belly dance, many students choose to go barefoot while others wear socks or dance slippers.
Q - Is the Dance Conmigo studio (3655 St-Laurent, #207) accessible by public transportation?
A - Yes! We are located close to both the Sherbrooke and St-Laurent metro stations:
Sherbrooke metro (orange line): 10min walk. Cross St-Denis street, walk through St-Louis Square to Prince Arthur, walk along Prince Arthur until you hit St-Laurent boulevard- and turn right.
St-Laurent metro (green line): Exit onto St-Laurent Boulevard and walk north (uphill) for 15-17min - or take bus #55 north and be outside our building in less than 5 mins!
Q - Is there nearby parking available?
A - Parking nearby can be tricky. However, many of our regular students manage to find parking with relative ease. Occasionally they are lucky enough to find a spot on St-Laurent between Prince Arthur and Pine... or they may settle for a spot a little further south or north. Other spots can be found on St-Dominique - one street East of St-Laurent - or on Prince Arthur West of St-Laurent, or on Milton (one street south of Prince Arthur).
