On May 21st 2011, Dance Conmigo was invited to host a barchelorette party for a beautiful lady who will no longer be single.

The party was hosted at Dance Conmigo Studio, in the Plateau Area of Montreal. The most important feature of a barchelorette party, besides good company and location is the entertainment. Dance Conmigo thought the bride as well as her friends how to dance a sexy salsa. At the end of the class, Dance Conmigo dancers performed a passionate Argentine Tango.

Dance Conmigo provides entertainment for different corporate and private events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays etc. If you would like us to be part of your next event write us a line.

Dance Conmigo participates for the second year at the Step into Motion Dance Festival. Step Into Motion is a non profit organization that is managed by teachers, students and dance professionals within the community of Eastern Ontario. The purpose of the Step Into Motion Dance Festival is to encourage dance in the schools and throughout the region of Eastern Ontario.

This year, Dance Conmigo was invited to teach a salsa workshop. The participants of the workshop were so talented that in one 90 minute class they learned the equivalent of five group classes of our regular salsa program. Thank you Gisele Paquette (organiser) for the invitation.

Danced on a wide variety of music; including pop, soul, funk, hip hop, RnB and top 40, West Coast Swing offers both partners unlimited opportunity to interpret and express the music in their own unique way. Dance Conmigo offers levels 1, 2 & 3 every session and hosts an open West Coast Swing practice every Tuesday from 8:30pm-10pm for just $2. Boston Tea Party 2011

Dance Conmigo students and teachers “represented” at this renown dance convention attracting West Coast Swing and Lindy dancers from all around the world. Watching live performances by West Coast Swing’s biggest names as well as participating in workshops, competitions and of course, general dancing, gave Montrealers a great new inspiration and drive to share what they learned with the community at home. Here instructor Cheryl Williams competes in the Boston Tea Party 2011 Strictly Prelims with fellow WCS-lover Nicolas.

A gust of new students filled the classes this winter as Dance Conmigo teamed up with the social website Tuango to offer an excellent promotion to the dance-curious. Most were so taken by their experience that they are returning this Spring for more dance lessons!

A big THANK YOU to new instructors Catherine and Pascal, who instilled in their students their love and passion for West Coast Swing – every Monday night in their beginner WCS class!

Kudos also to returning instructors Jade and Gary for eliciting much praise from their Salsa students including: “You guys are the best!” and “The classes were great. Lots of fun!”

New last season: For the first time, we separated our beginner Ballroom classes into Ballroom Smooth classes (Slow Waltz, American Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz) and Ballroom Rhythm classes (Merengue, Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Swing). We wanted to give more time and attention to each dance – and the results were awesome!

Looking forward, Dance Conmigo founders and instructors Cheryl and Alain continue developing their programs so as to integrate new students while challenging those who have been with them now for almost 5 years! A few new and exciting classes will be added this Spring & Summer – stay tuned for details!

After four years of dancing in a worn out floor, Dance Conmigo decided to upscale to a new floor. Alain, Abe, Dennis, Gary and Rene worked non stop to install the new floor. We hope that dancers will enjoy it for the years to come.

It was with great pleasure that Dance Conmigo welcomed its summer students.

The summer session is always surprising. Many of our regular students take a break during the summer months while others, who normally don’t have time for dance classes, take advantage of summer’s more relaxed pace to try something new!  Though most students do register in advance, we’re never truly sure what to expect until the first day of classes.

We are thrilled with the turnout, averaging about 10-14 students per class. On Mondays we teach Ballroom 1 & 2 at Studio Metronome while Catherine V. and DJ Gary host the Blues evening at Dance Conmigo just down the street . On Tuesdays we have West Coast Swing classes, followed by a 90-minute West Coast Swing practice.  We are very encouraged by the number of registrants in West Coast Swing, especially considering that this fantastic versatile dance is still relatively unknown here in Montreal (video of first class level-2).  On Wednesdays we have Level 1 & 2 Salsa classes. Many of our salsa students take advantage of the 50% discount we offer to students repeating classes for the second time, so there is a nice mix of new faces and the familiar salsa die-hards. On Thursdays we offer Argentine Tango 1 & 2 but were a little surprised by this session’s low registration. We still have place available in our tango classes should you be interested!

Coming up this summer Dance Conmigo hosts two dance parties Saturday, August 7th and Saturday, September 4th at Studio Metronome.  Our parties begin with a beginner “crash-course” in one of the dances followed by general dancing – featuring two dance floors!!  One floor is reserved for Salsa (plus some Merengue, Bachata & Cha-Cha), while the other features a diverse mix of music for general dancing (Waltz, Cha-cha, Swing, Rumba, Mambo, Samba, Foxtrot, Viennese waltz, Tango, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa…). In addition we continue hosting the WCS practices every Tuesday from 8:30pm to 10:00pm.  These parties and practices are open to the public.  Please join us sometime!
